SEGA Is Fighting Vipers Honey The Most Iconic Female Character

SEGA Is Fighting Vipers Honey The Most Iconic Female Character

Actually, a whole franchise that has never been seen again since the 90s and that is the Fighting Vipers. When you think of a female character from SEGA, that is most iconic for dressing up most people think...hmm...Ulala. But before Ulala there was another, and her name was Honey. She really stands out. But people...kind of forget her origins in todays world. Because Honey as a human...has not seen the light of day since FV2 was released.

The US release changed her name to Candy and proclaimed that Honey was DEAD. What the hell is wrong with people and the whole name changing? I dont understand? What was wrong with the name Honey? People love to change things, thinking...that doesnt sound right, when in reality, it sounded fine. Its not like her name was Jiz/Spunk or something, then youd...think....yeah that needs to go. It was Honey, and Honey is a real nice name. I suppose Honey and Candy arent really that different, they are both...how you say...sweet?

Honey was created by SEGA-AM2 Co, LTD. She is a petite 16 year old girl. Who is a fashion student who enters a fighting tournament to promote her original fashion design. She even designed her plastic fairy costume herself.

One of Honeys special abilities was that she was able to glide with the wings that she had created, but that was only seen in the CGI sequences. And yes there was two other female characters, Grace & Jane but they were not as iconic...so we just push them to one side.

Grace was kind of pretty and she an African American chick that was a model. She fought against her opponents in skating gear. Oh, and i forgot to add...yes, the female characters clothing could be destroyed in battle. Which...changed the style.

Although...in one of the scenes she has a MASSIVE nose. She needs a plastic surgeon pronto! Cant go out looking like that. So one minute her nose is as tiny as a mouse, the next its poking peoples eyes out. Looks like she was born a Hylian in the N64 Era so to speak.

Jane you ask? She was just a parody of Jenette Vasquez from the 1986 film Aliens. For FV2 her design was changed, to stop legal issues. Actually everyone was revamped, but Ill get to that later.

The character proved to be most popular in the series that she was even given a doll line. You know those Jenny dolls. Well Honey got a special release.

There were two versions of Honey, one version of her had blonde hair and blue eyes. Howd she change her hair color you ask? She dyed her hair blonde and put in blue contacts, simple. Also to note the two women who did the voice for the character are uncredited, nobody knows. But the voice-over who did the voice in FV1 was an American female voice-over and for FV2 it was a Japanese female voice-over. And no it was NOT Cara Jones, she only did the role of Jane in both FV1 & FV2. Shed probably know who did the role, but who knows for sure its been a long time since the 90s and the voice cast could have recorded their lines separately from one another. Guess itll just have to stay a mystery...which is a good thing.

People began to cosplay the character, and it became a thing. And people have continued to cosplay the character through the years. So those of you who thought Ulala, was iconic and cosplayed a great deal, you should check out Honey.

Honeys theme song was very rock-like. It has a lets go the mall feeling to it. In the first game SEGA hired American voice-over artists to do the roles. So Candy pretty much sounded like a valley girl. She would lose that voice for FV2 when SEGA then hired an actual Japanese woman to do the role.

Honey was kinda like a counterpart to Pai from the Virtua Fighter series. Only more stylish and not a Chun-Li knock-off.

Both met one another in Fighters Megamix, kinda like a Smash Bros crossover game...made way before Super Smash Bros was a thing.

The game was very special and is one of SEGAs most iconic gaming series. They only however...made one. You could unlock secret CG artworks.

Some are a spin-off of Virtua Fighter Kids. According to information, SEGA might have thought about making a Fighting Viper Kids but probably decided not to.

And I think they went with Sonic the Fighters instead which proved to be very popular as it used the same source material as Virtua Fighter & Fighting Vipers, only with different characters. There really isnt much.

Honey was supposed to have been a hidden character in the game, but SEGA decided to remove her at last minute. She could however be accessed by hacking. She was later restored to the series, several years later. And is now widely...known as Honey the Cat

But the characters true origins are that of a Fighting Viper. The Fighting Vipers series seems to be dead. and Sega AM2 and SEGA in general refuse to merge any of the characters with the Virtua Fighter series.

A special crossover game entitled Project X Zone, brought one of the Fighting Vipers back...and that...was Bahn. He is not as popular as Honey, so it really does not make any sense as to why he would make a cameo return all by himself. Project X Zone 3 could follow, or maybe not. Who knows who SEGA will next bring out of the archives. Last time it was Alex Kidd.

Honey was most recently, maybe say the start of this year added to a Sonic fan game entitled Sonic World. SEGA stated they do not mind people making fanmade games. A Sonic fan by the name of Emily/Emi was asked to do the characters vocals. Unlike Nintendo, who have a major problem with it. It seems someone eventually caught up with SEGAs Sonic 3D Adventure type gameplay.

I love Honeys second alternative costume. Although...she doesnt seem to wear her shoes as heels as seen in the Fighters Megamix CGI image which makes the outfit look...a little too childish. The heels gave it more Oomph! I think I incorporated a bit of Honey into my mascot, Lemon. You know the whole lets make our own outfits, and NOT GIVE A **** WHAT ANYONE THINKS ABOUT THEM? whole attitude. No matter how sexy, crazy or kooky they look. I think that was Honey, who had inspired me. So yes, Honey is a massive part of my history, and as a child...she was one of my icons, for a short while. I didnt fully understand the sexual innuendo back then, but nowadays I think...who cares? Wear what you want, be who you want! Even if others around...you dont agree at least you are being true to yourself. Nobody else matters and why should their opinions matter to you? If someone disses you ignore their asses. They mean nothing to you. If you are the type of person who has ever been mocked, think in a different light. And that is that those ass-hats, dont mean a thing to you, so they can go SCREW themselves. I kinda have this two-faced approach to things, where I can sometimes agree...then sometimes I change my opinion on subjects. Because sometimes you dont really think outside the box. And then other times you realise what you just said...could have been a load of bull**** and maybe you need to take back what you said, and change your viewpoint. So with me its kinda like...back and fourth. Sometimes I think...YES...while others it NO! It all depends on how I am feeling, it could be PMS who knows for sure. It really ****s with your emotions. But it can be dealt with...by keeping away from people, until the cycle ends. You dont really know how you are acting, you know the whole moods swings, but you kinda get the gist, because people are like whats wrong with her? And if you hear someone called you a bitch or something, you probably know why.

Honey also made an appearance in Fighting Vipers 2 with a whole different design. More maid like? She was the original cosplay like character, and is probably one of the originals. As today in fighting games you have characters like Honey, who just continue to imitate one another. And that basically is another iconic character that we will probably never see ever again.
