Samsung releases Galaxy TabPro S Gold Edition 2 in 1 Windows 10 tablet laptop PC

Windows 10 is a great desktop operating system. It also works wonderfully on tablets. That is what makes Microsofts OS so attractive -- versatility. It still doesnt scale very well on smartphones, but I digress.

Today, Samsung releases the Galaxy TabPro S Gold Edition 2-in-1 Windows 10 tablet/laptop hybrid. The gold-colored PC features an impressive AMOLED screen and other great specifications. Unlike the Surface devices, the keyboard case is included -- nice! Best of all? It costs less than $1,000.

All of the hardware specifications are quite good, with the exception of the processor (arguably). Intels M3 chip is quite capable, but hardly a powerhouse; if you do CPU-intensive tasks like video-editing, this would not be a good choice. Also, because this has Windows 10 Home and not Pro, you cannot leverage BitLocker.
 
On the bright side, however, unlike a Core processor, this is fanless, meaning it is silent. For typical tasks like word processing, web browsing, and consuming media, this PC should be quite brilliant. You can do all of these things without hearing an annoying fan whir sound.
 
If you are interested in buying it, it can be had today for $999.99 from Samsung directly or from BestBuy. An optional USB-C multi-port dock ($89.99) and stylus ($79.99) can be purchased too. Will you buy this PC? Tell me in the comments.

Salesforce and Google contacts sync

Ive been experimenting with the newly released sync between Salesforce and Google contacts. Released as a free application accessible even to the lowest Team edition users, Appiros product (LINK) does a good job in my experience so far. Customization is limited (as is the documentation) but with my Google Apps account the sync both directions works well, with some exceptions.

> Occasionally a contact wont sync. Usually I understand the reason. Sometimes it doesnt make sense. After each sync, if there are exceptions, you get an e-mail with exceptions listed.

> As far as I can tell, it will only sync the main e-mail field. I have multiple e-mail fields set up in both programs, but theres no way to set-up custom field mapping.

Ill provide a more comprehensive report later, but good news is no lost data so far.

(And for BlackBerry users, who are still without an easy OTA sync without use of BES, one nice thing about the Appiro product is that all of your contacts are in this way synced from Salesforce, over to Google and then accessible using the Google Mail application on your BlackBerry. Not the speediest service (though for me a switch to Verizon has made all the difference) but at least you can access them in a pinch. To get my contacts into the regular BlackBerry addressbook, I still occassionally sync one-way from SalesForce to Outlook, and then via cable to the BB.)

Gear up - The Diablo comes to town!

The series of stress tests held on Planet Calypso since last December have proven very efficient in finding and solving bottlenecks in the Entropia Universe system.

Today Planet Calypso will continue with a stress test that focuses on analyzing server physics calculation performance on three different server setups.


The event will spawn the magnificent Hogglo Diablo in the midst of Port Atlantis in three consecutive stages.

Stage 1 will start at 16.00 UTC, stage 2 at 16.30 UTC and stage 3 at 17.00 UTC.

In order to get comparable data from the three stages the number of participants in the Port Atlantis server will be limited. Participants are advised to enter the Port Atlantis area before the event starts in order to guarantee their place during the event.
