Scripts to inject sample data to AlienVault OSSIM SIEM
Scripts to inject sample data to AlienVault OSSIM SIEM
I just published a few scripts I wrote to inject sample data to AlienVault or OSSIM (Open Source Version) Unified SIEM. Those can be found in Github:
https://github.com/santiago-bassett/Alienvault-Demo_scripts
The scripts are ready to emulate Syslog data coming from these sources: Aruba Wireless, Cisco ASA, Cisco PIX, ClamAV, Oracle Database, OSSEC HIDS, Sonicwall and SSH.
As well, the scripts are ready to inject malicious network traffic in a dummy interface so it can be analyzed by Snort NIDS. Some of the traffic injected is related to: botnets, C&C communications, Zeus, spambot or spyware. The pcap files can be found in this directory:

The last time Apple significantly updated its top-of-the-line MacBook Prowas back in 2012. Since then, the laptop has been updated to include a Retina display and a Force Touch trackpad, but a major revamp has been long overdue.

One thing your router needs now to keephackers out

Hackers are continually looking for targets, and all they need to get to the personal files and devices on your network are your routers IP addressand your administrative password. A simple Google search is all it takes to find both for just about any router make and model.
Once hackers have this information from a router that hasnt been updated, they can steal your files, peek through your webcam or worse. They canstart sniffing data thats passing to and from your router. They can record all your online activity, including usernames and passwords. They can evenreroute your traffic to fake websites.
Routers can also be taken over to perform illegal activities, such as denial of service attacks or piracy. The scary part is you might not even knowyour router is compromised and being used for nefarious deeds.
If youre not regularly updating your router with new firmware, youre ripe for attack.

While updating a router is easy for a computer nerd, it can be difficult if youre not.

Also, router manufacturers dont notify you about their updates (unlike Apples automatic notifications).

Pundits have been crediting the recentApple stock pricegains to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 disaster, but they have made the mistake of drawing an obvious conclusionthats actually only part of the story.

To catch you up: Samsung was forced to suspend sales of its flagship Galaxy Note 7 on Aug. 31, less than two weeks after the smartphone went on sale, following reports ofexploding devices. Attempts to fix the problem failed, forcing Samsung to pull the Galaxy Note 7 entirely on Oct. 11.

Instead of harping on slowing iPhones sales as they had for most of the year, more analysts started to notice Apples growing revenue from services.

The services segment things like the App Store, Apple Pay, and Apple Music is now Apples second-largest source of revenue behind the iPhone.

Growth in services shows Apple is getting better at monetizing its base of customers in a more consistent way, rather than depending almost entirely on hardware upgradesevery few years.

Credit Suisse has forecast that income from Apple services will double in less than four years.

Up until recently, handling an iPhone at an Apple Store involved dealing with its unwieldy security tether, a sometimes cumbersome experience that prevented potential buyers from getting a true idea of how it feels to holdand handle Apples handset.
At some stores, however, the tech giant has been removing the tethers for a better customer experience as well as cleaner bench displays more in keeping with the minimalist design of Apples brick-and-mortar locations.
Yes, it does mean someone could, in theory, enter the store, pick up a phone, pop it in their pocket, and walk out, but the fact that the trial appears to be expanding to multiple locations suggests Apple is pleased with theway its going. In other words, it hasnt lost too many phones yet.

How to Foil a Tech-Support Scam
Fraudsters are getting cleverer and more aggressivebut the government is cracking down.
Locker-type scams mostly being launched from overseas, where attackers can more easily avoid getting in trouble for infecting American computers. Hacking charges in the U.S. are no joke.
Instead, domestic scammers prefer operating in a legal gray area that can keep them from getting in too much trouble if they wind up in court. If they provide genuine tech-support services andcan confuse less-than-savvy judges with technical minutiae, they can escape punishment, the Malwarebytes researcher said.

Set up GlusterFS with a volume replicated over 2 nodes
Set up GlusterFS with a volume replicated over 2 nodes
The servers setup:
To install the required packages run on both servers:sudo apt-get install glusterfs-serverIf you want a more up to date version of GlusterFS you can add the following repo:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:semiosis/ubuntu-glusterfs-3.4Now from one of the servers you must connect to the other:
sudo gluster peer probe <ip_of_the_other_server>You should see the following output:
peer probe: successYou can check the status from any of the hosts with:
sudo gluster peer statusNow we need to create the volume where the data will reside. For this run the following comand:
sudo gluster volume create datastore1 replica 2 transport tcp <server1_IP>:/mnt/gfs_block <server2_IP>:/mnt/gfs_blockWhere /mnt/gfs_block is the mount point where the data will be on each node and datastore1 is the name of the volume you are creating.
If this has been sucessful, you should see:
Creation of volume datastore1 has been successful. Please start the volume to access data.As the message indicates, we now need to start the volume:
sudo gluster volume start datastore1As a final test, to make sure the volume is available, run gluster volume info.
sudo gluster volume infoYour GlusterFS volume is ready and will maintain replication across two nodes.
If you want to Restrict Access to the Volume, you can use the following command:
sudo gluster volume set datastore1 auth.allow gluster_client1_ip,gluster_client2_ipIf you need to remove the restriction at any point, you can type:
sudo gluster volume set volume1 auth.allow *
Setup the clients:
Install the needed packages with:sudo apt-get install glusterfs-clientTo mount the volume you must edit the fstab file:
sudo vi /etc/fstabAnd append the following to it:
[HOST1]:/[VOLUME] /[MOUNT] glusterfs defaults,_netdev,backupvolfile-server=[HOST2] 0 0Where [HOST1] is the IP address of one of the servers and [HOST2] is the IP of the other server. [VOLUME] is the Volume name, in our case datastore1 and [MOUNT] is the path where you whant the files on the client.
Or, you can also mount the volume using a volume config file:
Create a volume config file for your GlusterFS client.
vi /etc/glusterfs/datastore.volCreate the above file and replace [HOST1] with your GlusterFS server 1, [HOST2] with your GlusterFS server 2 and [VOLNAME] with the Gluster FS volume to mount.
volume remote1Finally, edit fstab to add this config file and its mount point. Replace [MOUNT] with the location to mount the storage to.

SERVICE OPTIC PS 2
SERVICE OPTIC PS 2
Kalau tema -teman pernah ngalami berarti optik ps2 teman perlu sedikit maintenance.
Ini saya share tutorial maintenance optic ps2.
Pertama kita siapin keperluan dan bahannya sbb:
- Obeng kuncup (obeng +) kalo ada dari semua ukuran.
- Kapas secukupnya.
- Lens cleaner.
- Cotton bud.
